Taiwan Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (TSC) today announced the official release of its 2024 Sustainability Report, the third report published by the company. The report provides a comprehensive disclosure of TSC’s performance in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects, serving as a key platform for communicating with stakeholders and aligning with international sustainability standards. Guided by the four strategic pillars of Global TSC, Low-Carbon TSC, Agile TSC, and Vibrant TSC, TSC continues to implement its sustainability roadmap and demonstrate its long-term commitment to responsible business practices.

In 2024, TSC completed the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) quantitative climate risk assessment and, for the first time, fully responded to the international CDP Climate Change and Water Security questionnaires. These globally recognized platforms enhance transparency and strengthen competitiveness in the international market. Compared with 2023, TSC reduced its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 7,718 metric tons of CO₂e. Renewable energy usage increased to 23%, and the company launched its ISO 14067 Product Carbon Footprint program, underscoring decisive actions in its low-carbon transformation.

TSC continues to foster a people-centered workplace by promoting competency modules and comprehensive training mechanisms. In 2024, the company maintained zero occupational disease cases for the third consecutive year and received recognition from Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare as a “Healthy Workplace” certified company. Beyond the workplace, TSC actively contributes to society through initiatives such as blood donation drives, charitable gift voucher programs, and cultural and arts sponsorships, extending care and support to communities in need.

In 2024, TSC implemented the ISO 27001 Information Security Management System at its Taipei headquarters, ensuring its cybersecurity framework meets international standards and customer requirements for supply chain security. On the innovation front, R&D expenditure accounted for over 3% of net sales for the second consecutive year, with a restructured core product development team accelerating product innovation and maintaining zero-defect quality standards.

The 2024 Sustainability Report is more than a record of achievements—it reaffirms TSC’s dedication to advancing sustainability governance, driving low-carbon transformation, and creating long-term value together with stakeholders.

Taiwan Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (TSC) has once again received the “Taiwan Talent Sustainability Action Alliance” certification, an initiative launched by CommonWealth Magazine. This marks the second consecutive year TSC has been recognized with this honor. Together with over 500 participating companies, TSC reaffirms its commitment to advancing talent sustainability in the workplace, while continuing to place “people” at the core of its values—cultivating an inclusive, diverse, healthy, and growth-oriented work environment.

TSC continues to invest in talent development through four key strategic pillars: Talent Growth, Engagement & Experience, Well-being, and Diversity & Inclusion.

1. Talent Growth
In alignment with its corporate culture and long-term strategic goals, TSC has established a comprehensive training framework and competency model. A structured training roadmap covering five categories and thirteen key topics supports the development of management capabilities, professional skills, and compliance awareness. In 2024, TSC delivered a total of 1,770 hours of training with a participation rate of 99.4%. Regular employee surveys are conducted, and feedback is reviewed systematically. Specific improvement plans are formulated based on input, and key topics—such as grievance mechanisms, compensation and benefits, workplace safety, mental health, facility quality, and job motivation—are regularly reviewed and updated. Additionally, a dedicated online labor-management meeting platform enables employees to access meeting records in real time, further enhancing transparency and communication effectiveness.

TSC emphasizes its commitment to strengthening talent sustainability through systemic, cultural, and actionable strategies. Looking ahead, the company will continue to collaborate with industry peers to shape a more inclusive and growth-driven talent ecosystem in Taiwan, realizing a vision of mutual success for both employees and the enterprise.

In support of marine conservation and resource recycling, TSC Ilan site donated 200 retired employee uniforms today (April 30) to the nonprofit organization Race for the Beach. In recognition of this meaningful contribution, the organization presented a certificate of appreciation, acknowledging the company’s concrete efforts in fulfilling corporate social responsibility.

Race for the Beach is a local beach-cleaning initiative founded in 2022 by environmental advocate Wendy. Driven by the mission to “give children a safe beach to walk barefoot,” the initiative has actively patrolled and cleaned the 106-kilometer coastline of Ilan County. To date, over 30 metric tons of marine debris have been removed. The initiative goes beyond cleanup, integrating art and education to transform marine waste into creative “ocean art” pieces, redefining waste as a medium for awareness and inspiration.

The retired uniforms donated by TSC will be used in the upcoming exhibition organized by Race for the Beach. Through handcrafting techniques, the old uniforms will be transformed into art installations and preserved floral pieces, symbolizing renewal and environmental commitment. This initiative not only supports local efforts in recycling and artistic innovation but also reflects TSC’s continued dedication to community engagement and environmental sustainability.

Taiwan Semiconductor Co., Ltd. is marking its 45th anniversary this year. From overcoming the challenges of the early investment environment to growing to over 1,600 employees globally and achieving consolidated revenue exceeding 14 billion NTD in 2023, TSC has become a leading brand in the industry. TSC has upheld three core principles: precise market positioning, unwavering commitment to product quality, and a strong team capable of practical action, which has enabled continued growth in the industry.

Sam Wang, Vice President of Product Marketing, highlighted TSC’s ability to discern market demands: “From consumer products to expanding into the automotive and industrial markets, TSC has garnered positive feedback from customers through years of accumulated experience and continuous innovation in product development, successfully entering the international automotive market.” Amy Liu, Vice President of Sales Marketing, mentioned that TSC’s relationship with customers goes beyond buyer-seller interactions. For example, in recent years, product design collaboration projects have been initiated. Such strategic partnerships not only deepen mutual trust but also provide opportunities for TSC and its customers to grow together in the industry.

In terms of product quality, the “Zero-defect” strategy is TSC’s commitment. To meet high-quality standards and reliability verification, TSC has continuously improved its factory infrastructure, moving towards Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing trends. TSC has recently established an automation development department, aiming to create superior competitiveness in production through comprehensive smart production and testing.

Besides, TSC’s sustainable operation relies on the professionalism, dedication, and innovation of its organization and team members. Sam Wang pointed out that TSC is fortunate to have recruited experienced colleagues in various fields, including research and development, product marketing, sales, and operations, enabling the realization of its sustainable vision. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, with logistics hubs worldwide and agile strategies, the supply chain has remained uninterrupted to meet customer needs. Senior Vice President Helen Wang and Vice President Keller Yen also expressed that because changes always overtake plans, “adaptability becomes the most important DNA of the factories.” Production must be able to respond quickly to meet the needs, relying on trust, communication, and experience among teams. TSC’s four factories each play a crucial role in this aspect.

Looking forward, in the new era of AI, 5G, and the IOT, TSC’s products support various emerging applications. With the continuous development of the electric vehicle industry, such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), charging infrastructure, etc., TSC will continue to monitor industry trends and improve product differentiation. In terms of market strategy, TSC continues to expand its global market layout. In addition to markets such as China, Europe, and North America, Southeast Asia is also a target market with great development potential. Sam Wang also expressed gratitude to all team members, customers, partners, and suppliers, thanking all for their support. He looks forward to continuing efforts in the future, allowing TSC to shine on the international stage.
